This hidden BBQ joint, tucked away in an industrial park plaza next to an A/C place and an Auto Repair shop, is just around the corner from me. It's kinda become my go-to local fix for BBQ, when i'm not trying to find "THE" BBQ spot.
I tried the Beef Rib (Fri-Sat Only) for the first time on my last trip. It was kinda overcooked in a way that I love. If you like the texture of Thai Beef Jerky dishes, you'll dig this. It was super crusted, and fatty, and not at all subtle, but awesome. I definitely needed to have coleslaw with it to cut thru some of the richness.
The Jalapeno Cheddar Beef Sausage is one of my favorites. You can order links alone or you can go for a Tonto Wrap, which is Pita Bread filled with Pulled Pork, Sausage, Coleslaw, and their Lost Dutchman Gold Sauce (mustard-based bbq sauce).
The Brisket has been hit or miss, depending if you get fatty or lean. The lean left me kinda bored, but the fatty brisket was just right. Smoked Turkey is surprisingly good. Their Mac and Cheese has fat elbow noodles (not sure what they're called) and a Velveta textured Nacho cheese that is surprisingly good, if you're not looking for a classic take. The BBQ Beans are smokey and solid. Coleslaw is fairly standard sweet and vinegary, but a nice balance to the rich BBQ.
Love to hear if anyone else frequents Nate's and what you think.
