One thing to bear in mind is that “sushi grade” isn’t really a thing. There’s no inspection authority or rules or grading standard or anything like that for fish to be used for sushi and sashimi.

But if you’re going to go raw for prep at home, really the best thing you can do is buy from somebody you know and trust and who knows their product, particularly if they serve sashimi themselves. So yeah, places like Nelson’s and Chula are really good bets.

Also, H Mart has a case of fish for sushi/sashimi. Most of it is already sliced/prepared, but I think they have some trimmed loins ready for slicing. Those are certainly frozen/thawed (as is most seafood you’ll get around town), but in this case, that’s probably desirable, as the freezing kills parasites. In general, if you’re going to eat it raw, you want your seafood to have been frozen somewhere along the distribution chain, unless you’re getting it from somebody who REALLY knows what they’re doing.

But yeah, Nelson’s, Chula, and H Mart (for really basic and specifically marked tuna/salmon/hamachi cuts) are the three places I would buy from.
