New Restaurant in KFC
Beaver Choice successor Bece Kitchen opens today in Sun Lakes

Back in April, MXSW broke the news that Hanna Nilsson would be closing her 9-year-0ld Beaver Choice restaurant in Mesa and launching a fast-casual concept called Bece Kitchen.
After a few unexpected delays, Bece Kitchen finally opens today in a former KFC fast-food restaurant on the northwest corner of Dobson and Riggs in Sun Lakes.
If you’re not familiar with Beaver Choice, Nilsson opened the eatery on the southwest corner of McClintock and Broadway in Tempe in 2010.
Three years later, the owner-chef moved it to a larger space on the southeast corner of Extension and Baseline in south Mesa.
Like Beaver Choice, Bece Kitchen offers a menu of Swedish, Polish, and Canadian dishes like pierogi (six for $10), schnitzels ($10), Swedish meatballs ($10), and bigos (meat-and-sauerkraut stew, $10).
Frozen pierogi are available to go ($4-$4.95 a dozen for potato-cheddar, potato-onion, potato-cheddar-onion-jalapeno, or potato-cheddar-onion-bacon).
A bakery section has cupcakes, cheesecakes, pies, and other desserts.

No rush. Quite a few kinks to work out. Like they need a sign
I took a covered wagon across the valley (from the Arrowhead area) last week and was very happy with what I found (do we really need a sign to recognize Hannah’s stylistic choices?). I have missed her schnitzel and her perogies, but even more so I have missed seeing Hannah beaming as the proud hostess.
The size is a happy medium between her last two places, giving enough room to sit while being a manageable size for a family owned business. I suspect they will grow into a comfortable place worthy again of PFN.
