Re: Miu's Cuisine - Killer Cantonese/Sichuan in Tempe

We also ate there tonight and thought everything was great. We stayed mostly on the Sichuan side of the menu but really enjoyed the green beans in garlic sauce and the pea shoots fom the Cantonese menu. I thought both were pretty fully flavored. We have ordered the cucumbers in garlic sauce every ti...

Re: Khyber Halal Restaurant

I take out lunch from here pretty regularly and I think it's as good as its always been. I've settled into somewhat of a routine getting the chicken boti most times but it and anything else I've tried has been consistently pretty fantastic.

I am far from an authority but Nocawich is doing a French dip on Thursdays that I really enjoyed.

Re: Seftel

I can't find the review but years ago he reviewed a raw food restaurant in Tempe (I think) describing it was "rawful." My sense of humour may be pretty unspohisticated but that line still makes me chuckle.

Re: Miu's Cuisine - Killer Cantonese/Sichuan in Tempe

Ok I'll go first with a short report. In a word fantastic. Focused much more on the vegetables than the proteins with an outstanding kung pao being the lone exception. But what an exception. Its not even the same dish I get anywhere else. Just wonderful. Started with the garlic cucumbers, which were...

Re: Devoured Food Festival - 3/9-3/10

Devoured is, in my opinion, far and away the best food festival in town. Price is quite reasonable given the number of participating restaurants (and their quality) not to mention the wine. We have gone every year since it started as West of Western and have never been dissapointed. For the first ti...

Re: New Orleans

Thanks all. Work kept me from trying as much as I would have liked. Got beingettes from Cafe du Monde which were great but man do they go overboard on the powdered sugar. Tried to go to Cochon for lunch one day but the restaurant was running an hour and the place next door had a line out the door so...

New Orleans

Heading to the Big Easy for a few days for work. I have never been and would love some recommendations on places to eat both upscale and downscale. I am staying at the Westin Canal Place and won't have a car.

Thanks very much.

Crescent Ballroom downtown. On site restaurant co-owned by Chris Bianco and Doug Robson of Gallo Blanco. Food is mostly burritos and tacos but quite good.

Nocawich

I think Noca's lunch spot has enough of its own thing going on to warrant it's own thread. Having moved to an office across the street I've been spending a decent amount of time here and have been really impressed. They are making bread for many of the sandwiches as well as the pizza dough and both ...

I don't know him either but I recall reading that he sold his BBQ place so he could focus on Petite Maison. Maybe that is what she was thinking about

Check this link out http://www.heritagefoodsusa.com/ They may still have birds available. I order these birds each year through Chrysa Robertson of Rancho Pinot. I also think Whole Foods is also selling a heritage bird that may still be available.

Re: Khyber Halal Restaurant

Stopped in for lunch the other day. Me and a friend split the mixed grill platter. It was fantastic. The kibbe was tender and moist. Chicken had a kick but nothing outrageous. Just a great dish. And at $20 a screaming bargain. This place is a real gem.

I saw that article and was really curious what this guy's background is. I wish him all the luck in the world but couldn't help but wonder where someone that young could get the kind of financing needed to buy that location and then fully rehab it.

Really pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning. Eclectic crowd with everyone just enjoying being outside almost enough to make you forget you are sitting in a parking lot. Food is quite good. Nothing is going to blow your mind but everything I have had there has been tasty. I get a roast chicken an...

Re: Need recommendation for high end restaurant w/large port

I think Cheesecake Factory, which I contend is an excellent example of the absolute worst of the American restaurant industry, gives claim jumper a run for its money.
