Re: Buqui Bichi (Downtown Phx)

I recently tried the downtown location and ordered the carne asada tacos. Interestingly, I received not only the three meat tacos advertised but also a bonus taco full of refried beans. I'd say the tacos were good but not great. The tortillas were somewhat flaccid, but the meat was tender and flavor...

Re: Bad Jimmy's Burgers

Both of the regular burgers, the classic double and the double burger, are great. Their names make them hard to distinguish, but they differ in the way they handle onions (raw vs. caramelized) and the condiments. A menacing sign at the counter says "no modifications," but I've seen poeple ...

Re: Ficelle in Phoenix?

Trader Joe's sell frozen six packs of mini baguettes that have the same narrow diameter as ficelle. https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/mini-french-baguettes-062839 https://www.thekitchn.com/trader-joes-mini-french-baguettes-review-23626500 I wish I could refer you to a local bakery that se...

Re: Foodnerd Lunch this Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday?

FYI: Hue Gourmet has been renamed after its signature dish, Bun Bo Hue. The menu appears to be essentially the same, but I can't attest to the quality since I've haven't eaten there since the change.

Re: Feringhee Modern Indian Cuisine

Two of your three go tos for Indian are ours as well but have never heard of Vayals. Vayal's is new for 2024. It opened just a month or two ago on Thomas Road across from St. Joseph's hospital. I've been there several times and have been pleased with everything so far. It's a refreshing change to h...

Feringhee Modern Indian Cuisine

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, so when we needed to make a trip to Chandler Fashion Center, it made sense to follow up with dinner here. My enthusiasm for Star Trek made a place called Feringhee hard to resist, but there are no tube grubs on the menu and the menu is priced in dolla...

Re: Hai Noon

I didn't recognize the waiter suggesting that we needed to order everything all in one go, although a subtle hint may have gone over my head. However, he left us with the menus, and he inquired if we wanted to order more at some point. So I think the answer is no. And I can certainly see your point...

Re: Hai Noon

Sounds promising. You mentioned that the dishes came sequentially. Do you recall being pressured to order everything up front? That was a minor annoyance for me at the chef's previous place, Nobuo at Teeter House. It's also the one thing I don't like about Lom Wong. Sometimes, it's hard to know how ...

Was that per person or for the table?
