Re: Valentine

Couldn’t agree more. Over a few different menu iterations we have had some amazing meals there. I’m not a vegetarian but I live in a house with vegans and vegetarians. I think in addition to being a fantastic restaurant overall it’s also one of the best vegetarian restaurants in town. The pretzel, s...

Re: Devour Phoenix - Thoughts?

We went and I agree with all the comments above. In terms of food quality and originality, it doesn’t touch the pre Covid art museum days. But we also went with a group and had a fun day so overall worth it.

Re: Feringhee Modern Indian Cuisine

Thanks for this. It’s been on our list for a while now. We had a similar presentation for Biryani at a wonderful Indian place in Washington DC and really enjoyed it. Two of your three go tos for Indian are ours as well but have never heard of Vayals. The location is perfect. We’ve been looking for a...

Re: T-Day 2023 Megathread - Prep, Pride & Postmortem

Cooking for 23 and so getting some commercial help on one of the proteins. We have a mix of vegetarians and meat eaters so much of the sides are vegetarian friendly. I’m making/procuring: 1) Dry brined and spatchcocked turkey (Kenji recipe from years ago) 2) Turkey breast roulade (first time. Using ...

You thinking about the spread from The District at the Sheraton downtown? I can't even recall now what they had but I remember it being a lot of fun.

Completely agree with Dom. I’ve been almost every year it has been held and last year was one of the weakest. It has gotten quite expensive but when it’s on, it’s amazing. But even when it’s not, it has always been a very enjoyable afternoon. And the location at the Botanical Gardens is perfect.

Re: Locally AZ purchased/ raised heritage turkey

Local heritage birds seem harder to come by. If you want heritage, I think your best bet is Whole Foods. For several years now, I have been ordering a Turkey from The Meat Shop. They are processed the Saturday before thanksgiving and so they are fresh never frozen. I have been really happy with them...
