Re: Flagstaff eats?

We just had a great weekend in Flagstaff. In addition to another stellar visit to Pizzicletta, we discovered two new gems. Cafe Daily Fare - 408 E Route 66 This is just up the hill from downtown. We ended up here by chance when we saw it on the way to the hotel. What a lucky pick, because our lunch ...

Re: Honey Moon Sweets Bakery & Dessert Bar

This is one of my go-to places for birthday desserts for my team. It's located really near my office and everyone LOVES the little two-bite size treats. I usually get a combination so everyone gets to try 3 different things, and it's always a big hit!

Re: NYC

You are so right, it's almost impossible to decide in NYC! We went a few years back for Mr. Vacation's birthday and did fabulous lunches at EMP and Le Bernardin. While both were excellent, EMP was the slightly better experience ... much more fun with a little whimsy thrown in many courses. That's al...

Re: Noble Eatery

I stopped by yesterday. The coffee was great, a huge cup of steaming Joe, and the toast was as expected. I asked for 1/2 strawberry rhubarb and 1/2 blackberry jam. Also picked the orange sesame cake as one of the 3 pastry offerings (the other two were a little coffee cake and a blueberry muffin). Se...

Re: What's For Dinner?

Eggplant Tricolore from Ottolenghi's Plenty. So simple, and a great way to put a dent in that jar of capers that resides at the back of the fridge. Very tasty.

The plantain chips Hotdish mentions...

Re: Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream

Dang, I'm disappointed to hear this. But thanks for reporting back. I STILL want taco pizza, and we live relatively close at least (10 miles away). Our trips home to Iowa are always too short to fit in something like this, so Gilbert it will have to be.

Re: Reno?

Basque food! We had a fun lunch at Louis' Basque Corner on the way to Reno airport after a weekend in Tahoe a couple of years back. Simple and hearty, and with a fun atmosphere at the communal tables. Their website references a "Famous Picon Punch", but we didn't try it (just had the wine that came ...
