Re: House of Egg Roll

Hot as in temp. There was no stir fry dishes at all. Just all noodle dishes and some skewers. I guess ok for individual meals. Makes it very difficult to figure out what to order when you are with a group of people and want to share. I suppose you can get the GIANT plate of chicken with potatoes and...

Re: House of Egg Roll

Not sure if anyone has visited recently. It seems that the menu has changed this week. Went last night and it was a short menu with mostly just noodle dishes. Writing posted on the wall saying something about inventing new dishes and all hot dishes are suspended until then.

Re: Spicy/hot Mexican food in the East Valley?

Los Dos is technically New Mexican. But come to think of it, most New Mexican places are pretty spicy. I heard Si Senor in Chandler is very spicy as well.

Apparently no more fried steam dumplings and never will. Had a craving for those and went there last night but no luck.

Re: Nishikawa Ramen - Chandler

I went back last night. The broth is MUCH improved and doesn't taste like I'm drinking grease. Wish I got more than 1 piece of pork though. Otherwise the experience is much better.

Re: Instant Pot pressure cooker

Attempted to break in my new insta pot yesterday. Figured beef tendon would be a good test. I got some tendon and beef shank cuts from LeLe's and found a cantonese beef and tendon stew recipe online. Put the pot in saute mode and browned the meat for a bit, threw all the sauces and etc in and cooked...

Re: Nishikawa Ramen - Chandler

There's an actual term in Chinese for fatty foods that are done well so it doesn't feel oily and greasy: 油而不腻. In translation it means oily but not greasy. It's kind of like eating a nice piece pork belly but not feeling like you are only chewing on greasy fat.

Re: Nishikawa Ramen - Chandler

At least personally I felt their broth was too greasy and became unpleasant. It felt like you are drinking grease and the mouth feel is just way off. At some point you no longer taste the flavor of the broth because your mouth is coated with grease.

Re: Heng's Kitchen - Mekong Plaza

Thanks for the tips, I downloaded Google Translate and used the camera function on the photo of the blackboard and it worked. I'm especially interested in the first one: "Anti-Terror Intestinal Special". That's gotta be good. HAHAHA! If it was trying to translate the first one (#655), it is actuall...

Tim, you ever tried the Word Lens app for your phone? It's suppose to take a picture and translate. Of course often Chinese menu items don't exactly translate well....

Re: Nishikawa Ramen - Chandler

I went on Friday and it was rather bad. I hope they clean it up. The waitress was completely clueless and could use a lot of training. The house black I got was super greasy (even though the flavor was decent) and there was barely any broth. The takoyaki smelled off and tasted kind of nasty. I would...

Re: Magic Chili Garden replaces Henry's Private Kitchen in M

Went there last night with the parents. The menu is interesting. The English/Chinese menu has Taiwanese and Sichuan food. Then there's a Chinese only menu at the back that's Hunan food. So if you are looking for Hunan food I hope you can read Chinese. Ordered stir fried kidney, dry pot intestines, a...

I have not been back to Unphogettable for years. They are pretty meh. Funny though the owner lives directly across the street from me and is my neighbor. :P
