Re: Non-chain Tempe Steakhouse

Not sure what level of quality you're after here, but both Rustler's Roost and Cholla Steakhouse at Casino Arizona are both barely outside the Tempe borders.

Re: Hummus Xpress

This place is available via the UberEats app and I think it's the best value on there - it's definitely a two meal order for $12. I've gotten the plate about three times over the past few weeks and I really enjoy that eggplant a lot - so much so I might just order the eggplant as all four of the sid...

Re: Sous Vide Cookery at Home

You really should take it out of the water bath and chill it in an ice bath if you're not searing and serving immediately.

Re: San Diego spots?

We are thinking of going to San Diego this Memorial Day weekend. Are there any new recommendations or experiences from the last two years that anyone would like to add to this list? We are especially looking for seafood (probably not sushi), child-friendly, and picky-eater-friendly places (if one r...

Re: FnB - discuss

Hi all, I've read the thread thoroughly, so forgive me if I missed it but is there a place near FnB to get hard liquor and/or cocktails? Thanks, =R= Hi Ronnie - nice to "see" you again! (we met with PIGMON, trixiepea, mikesula @ Lost Leaf about a year ago). FnB does have a limited bar, but they do ...

Re: FnB - discuss

I understand what you're saying about the website, but the reality is, most places with a rotating menu only post sample menus on their website. It's nice to think that the menu is written at the end of the previous business day, but the reality is many dishes are likely "chef's whim" and aren't fin...

Re: Best Private Rooms

I would suggest contacting Gertrude's @ Desert Botanical Gardens, Christopher's or The Gladly for private dining spaces and outstanding food. There are others, but those three immediately came to mind.

Re: New Orleans

Well this is timely as I'm going to be in New Orleans this week as well! Planning on K Paul's for dinner, Cafe du Monde multiple times, and Mother's for a breakfast. Couldn't talk the group into traveling the whole 5 miles to Jacques-Imo's but happy with what the French Quarter area has to offer. O...

Their carnitas are quite good. The chicken is usually pretty solid, though we've had some letdowns too.

Re: Curing Salt/Prague powder No. 1

Not sure where locally, but I've bought it here before:
PINK CURING SALT

Also looks like you can buy it on Amazon.

Cabela's has it listed on their website, but it ships directly from the manufacturer, so that's not terribly helpful. You might also try Bass Pro Shop's.

Re: Upcoming Vegas Trip - Aria restaurants, Raku...

So I'm going to TRY and get to Raku tomorrow night...BUT does anyone know if you HAVE to have reservations? Working the Barrett-Jackson auction is insane and we never know what time (or even IF) we'll be able to escape for dinner. You don't have to have reservations if you'll be by yourself and wil...

The 9/11 Ode to Junior lobster club and some Two Wash Ranch wings with aji amarillo and honey sauce. fnb_wings.jpg Wished for a little more heat on the wings, but lovely texture and great slaw. fnb_lobster_club.jpg Plantain chips were dynamite. Nice lunch. Good running into putitonmytab and mylifeon...
