Dallas, TX

And maybe more specifically, north Dallas or north of Dallas. Spending a lot of time for work out this way. Any recommendations? At least in the area I've seen so far, it's a lot of chain type restaurants.

Waygo does the same and I thought I read the new release of the google translate app does that as well (don't quote me on that though).

What are your favorite joints in SF? (and nearby environs)

I moved up to the Bay Area a few months ago (about halfway between SF and SJ) and have really been enjoying everything the bay has to offer. One of my favorites is the So Gong Dong Tofu House in Palo Alto. Really tasty bibimbab and tofu soup. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160424/83916e6b48746964...

Re: Sous Vide Cookery at Home

I definitely dig sous vide burgers. I usually finish searing them in either butter or peanut oil, depending on flavor or "crunch" I want from the outside.

Little Miss BBQ - Foodnik Fri 4/8 @ 10am

Do they still do pre-orders and early pickup for larger orders? That might be a better option and less waiting in line.

Minneapolis?

Looks great. I can't believe I didn't check this thread out before I went; was just there a few weeks ago. I hit up 112 Eatery while I was there. Pretty good stuff...had a few different appetizers for my entree. Duck and radicchio salad, mussels, and sweetbreads with grits. All pretty tasty but the ...

Re: 2015 Dining Goals/Resolutions

It's been years but I really liked Haus Murphy. CK's was fun for happy hour and I liked the neighborhood bar feel. I wouldn't do Va Bene again. Thought it was overpriced and stuffy for what it was.

Re: Provision Coffee Bar

Thanks again for the heads up on this place Bill. I just stopped in and ordered a nitro coffee. I have to say it's not quite as smooth as the nitro served at Peixoto and I swear that the first few sips tasted more carbonated than nitrogenated. With that being said, it was still really good and I see...

We had that same chicken but with the bones. Absolutely delicious. Soup dumplings were on point as well.

Re: Blow Torch options

I use a propane torch I picked up at a Lowe's or Home Depot (Bernzomatic). Much cheaper and more powerful than those kitchen butane torches. And check out the Kenji article from a few years ago on a prime technique for searing. http://www.seriouseats.com/2013/03/ultimate-best-steak-ever-bone-in-ribe...

Long Waits for Food

Scott, just wanted to say that was a great read and really appreciated all the bourbon induced details. We've done the 5# order ahead once and we got in and out pretty quickly. I didn't even realize that was an option until a friend told me about it and I think I'll do that for the rest of the hot s...

What's your take on their coffee compared to Peixoto or others? It's always good to have a few options

Re: Peixoto Coffee - Downtown Chandler

This is our go to spot for coffee in the valley now. It helps that it's relatively close to us, but we find that we really enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere here. Also really enjoy the nitro cold brew they have on tap. Haven't seen it in many shops across the valley (though haven't looked too hard...

AZ Fine Swine - Mangalitsa Pork

During the dinner last Saturday, we were chatting about Mangalitsa pork. Happen to run across AZ Fine Swine at the Gilbert Farmers Market today. They have a whole selection of the stuff. The folks said this is their third week at the market. Picked up a few items to see how it is. ImageUploadedByTap...
