Re: Szechwan Palace - COFCO

Went to that AFC what feels like 3ish years ago, felt like pretty standard fare, but thats a long time and memories fade. I'd join in if there's an outing some weekend!

Man I hope Holy Land is still going strong, those walleye kabobs still put a smile on my face 7 years later.

Re: Dinghao Shanghai Bistro

Okay, so in the two weeks since I've posted I've eaten here 3 more times. I'm definitely a fanboy here now too Tim! Had the Chongching chicken tonight and it was as delicious as you advertised. I find myself ordering the tripe appetizer every time now, and I don't quite get why. Had the water boiled...

Re: Dinghao Shanghai Bistro

Had dinner here last night, also +1 for the ma po tofu, never had it before except @ asian buffets, definitely best I've had but definitely not much reference to compare to. Had the spicy tripe, which had a lot stronger sichuan peppercorn flavor than the tofu did. Combining those dishes was pe...

Re: Hot Noodles Cold Sake

Swung by here last night, had the Goma ramen w/pork cracklings + egg, as well as the gyoza. Ramen was really good, but I've only had ramen @ 5 places in my life. I think I enjoyed this as much as the ramen I had @ Underbelly in San Diego. Gyoza were very good; both the ramen and gyoza weren't super ...

Re: Byblos Restaurant

It's been 6 years, but I had a horrific experience here with a cold spanakopita and super dry roasted lamb dish. I had one of their fans attack me over my review on yelp too, hasn't made me eager to return.

Re: Cafe Ga Hyang - The Holy Grail?

Gotta confess to being underwhelmed. Had the Kot Gae Chigae, wife had the chicken bulgogi, neither of which flavors really popped. Liked more than ban chan + gogi, thought koreatown was much better, and been too long for me to remember how Chodang stacks up.

The lobster tail was solid, the veal was excellent, but the risotto was some of the best I've had.

Went to Pepper Cafe in Gilbert, http://www.peppercafe.net/. Tasty Cha Gio, weak goi cuon, and underwhelmingly average beef pho.

Re: A Pho Battle Royale

Enjoyed Pho Vietnam in Chandler today. Got the ubiquitous Pho Dac Biec, flavors were on point, anise and something a smidgen sweetish(cinnamon?) came through, and that happy brothy flavor followed me for maybe 10 or so minutes. I really do prefer clean broths and this is as pure as any. Noodles + me...

Re: Naked BBQ

I don't get bbq much, but for me the pinnacle has been Little Miss BBQ. How does this place compare, or is it a different style and can't really fairly rate them against each other?

Re: A Pho Battle Royale

Darn, I need to start ordering pho again, I can almost never resist defaulting to bun bo hue! From what I remember, I liked Noodles Ranch for having a really light broth with nearly no fat content. I'm going to hit up some places and weigh in more substantially in a month or so.

Casanova Brothers Pizza- skip this. Wonderful personality, tasty garlic knots, but definitely not sublime pizza.
Haji-Baba- I'm a fan! Lamb tongue sandwich pretty fun.
SoCal Fish Tacos- Pretty solid, if you're in the area its worth it, probably like a little more than joyride across the street.

Also endorse this truck, pretty tasty! Thought the kahlua pork was weaker than the others, but still good enough.

Satchmo's is still delicious! The thin gumbo of yesteryear is a distant memory, thick roux happy tummy times. For those that require a strong smoke flavor to be part of your bbq might not like it as much, but I still really like their ribs! Beaver Street Brewery was just alright. I haven't had much ...

Re: Prescott must-dos?

Went here on Saturday, confirm Nova Scotia roll + lobster bisque everything exit2lef promised! Also had the lobster mac n cheese, straightforward but very tasty still, crab cakes less successful- crabby enough but somehow kinda mushy- none of that lovely sear/crunch you like to see on the outside. D...

Chicken fried chicken tasty, Southwestern Ramen- if can forget ramen and just call it chicken noodle soup its tasty, with a surprisingly endearing burnt-ish flavor to th...
