Well, not MY annoying opinions . . . Do you love whiskey? Especially single malt Scotch whiskey? Then this is the food blog for you. His is one of my favorite food blogs in MN, but half the posts are seemingly about whiskey. He recently returned from another trip to Scotland, and points such as Lond...

Re: Minneapolis?
I was just in there Saturday
Yeah, going strong. Fair State Brewing opened across the street, and you can bring your Holyland food over to eat with some great beers. There's a second smaller location down in the Midtown Global Market near Lake & Chicago

If anybody could use some Minneapolis/Saint Paul recommendations, just let me know. I've been up here two years now, have been to a ton of spots, and have a pretty good lay of the land

Anybody been here lately? Are they still doing pastas during lunch? The GF will be doing some shadowing for work in the area, and am thinking of hitting here for lunch with her next Tuesday

The girl and I flew in to just be IN Chicago during Games 4 and 5 of the Series and watch with the hometown crowd. Hit up classics like Gino's East (whole sausage patty deep dish), Max's for dogs, Harry Caray's on Navy Pier, and even the Billy Goat Tavern for a Double Cheese (chips; no fries) We did...

Re: Naked BBQ
lol, jesus, Brian . . . mwest, I don’t know that there are any sacred cows on this board. Even Posh’s new ramen place got kinda trashed by a couple people. As for LMB, the owner Scott has been very open about how the place is run and the why’s of the line (there’s a long ‘open letter’ he posted some...

Re: group eats/drinks near the Phoenix convention center?
Heat? It's barely in the hundreds in June. I grew up in Chicago, and I'll take 105 here over 90 there anytime I'd keep an eye on the Blue Hound Kitchen. Interesting menu, well executed for the most part in my experience, cool space, and they do private dining http://www.bluehoundkitchen.com/private-...

Re: Non-chain Tempe Steakhouse
While not a 'steakhouse', Keegan's might do it for ya. Not a steakhouse atmosphere at, but the handful of times I've been, they nailed medium rare on steaks and burgers. Excellent beef at a reasonable price point. In fact Keegan's might be the ONLY time I've ordered a burger and didn't put condiment...

Togarashi! Great in ramen, bentos, or just sprinkled on cucumbers

Re: Umami
Swung in for an 11am breakfast. Had their Spicy Tan Tan Men Ramen (paitan and miso flavors mixed with house spices) with SPAM and shoyu marinated Fried Chicken. Plus of course liberally added chili oil and togarashi. Rescue that chicken tender though (tender, not bone in), or you'll lose the nice cr...

Re: TC Taco
Swung in for takeout, and loved their Al Pastor Taco Salad . . . (from the menu) "Pork smoked in house. With onions and pineapple. Shell fried to order with rice, beans, lettuce, Mexican cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo". To it I added a few of their great salsas I had half for lunch, the other ...

HardyBroadway1.jpg How about a thread for places that are begging to you to be restaurants? At the SE corner of Hardy and Broadway in Tempe is one such place in my mind. Formerly a bank, then a Cox dropoff for a bit, it's been empty for at least a few years. It's a cool little unique building that ...

FullSizeRender (38).jpg Another visit. Fast service by two servers, fast ramen arrival, pretty packed at 5:30 on Labor Day. The Tempe Asian youth population definitely has found a home here, which is a good sign Tried their Seafood Ramen with a $3 upcharge of fantastic Chasyu added . . . and . . . ...

Re: Umami
I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree. I loved my experience at the new Umami today Yeah, a bit of "How does this work?" to start, but the bartender sorted me out. Basically the Shady Park bar is running front of house? Personally, I love the space, outdoors to each end with a hint of old vegas pa...

Not too much to report on this trip, family wedding and a short retreat. We did manage to hit up Mucci’s Italian twice. They opened in the West 7th neighborhood this past winter, and seems like they’ve been rocking and rolling since day one So popular in fact, that they started selling a few frozen ...

Beef balls and rare beef (which wasn't served on the side, so it was no longer rare, heads up)

Downtown Denver is a great for a long weekend. Everything is within walking distance of the city center, so we didn't even bother with a car rental. Full album can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52687695@N00/albums/72157670293889800 But here are the highlights . . . range http://www.ra...

Leaving soon for a four day weekend downtown with the girl, and I'm not looking for Recs. Rioja and Linger are def on my radar. I've done my Foodnerd homework 8-) My questions is: How casual is Denver? Is it like the valley where you can go pretty much anywhere with shorts, sandals, a button down sh...

Re: Hummus Xpress
I popped in here yesterday about 1pm, and good to see the place hoppin'. The owner and three others were working the counter, so things moved along quickly. Their tabouli is a must, and a 'plate' for $10 is easily a 2 meal plate
