Just go here. Ross Simon + Aaron DeFeo + Bob Tam in an 80 person, cool vibe hideaway, tucked into the 4th floor of the Courtyard/Residence Inn on Central just a block south of Bitter & Twisted. Re: New Product Sightings in AZ Retail Stores!!!

I think ODV may have Contratto on the shelf. I'll check on Sunday. You can get all kinds of cool vermouth, potable bitters, and aperitivo at ODV these days. Total only seems to carry Fortaleza blanco and repo. The full line, including the Still Strength blanco, is at GCM Liquors. Also fairly new to ...

Re: Fellow Osteria

We went a few weeks ago and had a good time. The swiss chard ravioli was wonderful as was the orecchiette with spicy sausage and rabe. The margarita pizza was just ok. The dough needed salt and the pizza overall was pretty flat. Drinks were hit or miss. The Zenzero was a mess but the Bee's Knees was...

Re: Millie's Cafe: Puerto Rican Cuisine (Mesa)

So Millie's moved to a new, much larger place on the NE corner of Dobson and Baseline. We went today for the first time in the new location, which has been opened for a few weeks. On the plus side, there is plenty of seating, with room for 40-50 guests compared to the older shop that had about 14 se...

Re: Little Miss BBQ

Haven't given any LMB love in a while but man, we went for lunch today and it was as good as ever. For me it was a fatty brisket plus pork rib plate with grits and slaw, Mexican Fanta. Top top quality on the meats, as always. Others at my table noted that the beans are much more meaty than previousl...

Re: Suze liqueur

I've seen it at Tops but it's always worth a call to them as stock rotates quickly.
They can order it through Young's for you, if they are out.

Re: Tiki Trend

We've gone to quite a few of the Tiki Tuesday's at The Ostrich and have loved it. Super welcoming Tiki AZ gang shows up in full force, drinks are tight, and the overall vibe is super. I've also been making lots of tiki drinks at home. Between Beachbum Berry's books, the new Smuggler's Cove book, and...

Re: Suze liqueur

Pretty sure I saw it at Top's in Tempe. If they don't have it on the shelf, they can/will special order for you. Kind of delicious, isn't it? I don't think K&L will ship anything over 15%abv to us here but HiTime Wine Cellar will and they have nearly everything too. $10 per case (or less) flat rate ...

Re: Nishikawa Ramen - Chandler

We went this past weekend and both of us had the original tonkotsu. Overall, I think the broth was pretty singular and left a very heavy feeling in my gut/throat/mouth. The pork was very tender and flavorful with an excellent fat/lean mix and even though we got the hard boiled eggs (forgot to ask fo...

Re: Roadtrip recco: PHX to Santa Fe

So we did the first route....Payson, to Heber, up to Holbrook, jump on the 40 to ABQ, then up to Santa Fe. It was quite a nice ride, with lots to look at along the way (but not a lot of places that one would want to stop at). We considered going to view the Painted Desert for a bit but decided to ju...

Re: Roadtrip recco: PHX to Santa Fe

Talked to a NM native that also recommended the first route as the 2nd route can be painfully slow through reservation land.

Roadtrip recco: PHX to Santa Fe

So we're planning a roadtrip to Santa Fe for a couple of weeks from now for NM Cocktail week. Google maps suggests 87 up to Payson, then over to Holbrook, to Gallup Rt 40 down to ABQ, then up to SF. Alternate is about 30mins longer taking 60 up to Pinetop then 36 to 117 up to Rt 40 > ABQ > SF Anyone...

Peanut-infused bourbon and bittered bourbon peanuts

I grew up spending most weekends and all summer on Cape Cod. There was a Planter's Peanut shop in Hyannis and that was always one of my favorite stops. Even as a kid, I'd rather have a bag of freshly roasted (unsalted) peanuts than a bag of candy. And it's no surprise that I love to infuse things......

Re: Artizen at The Camby

.....I thought Libby did a great job at the Parlour and I think things are not as solid for cocktails there since she left. The Bee's Knees cocktail menu was very small, only four drinks, when we went..... Have you been to Parlor in the last month or so? Granted it will take Riley a bit of time to ...

Maine Lobster Lady

So once upon a time, about 3 years ago, I tried to visit the Maine Lobster Lady truck. It was in Old Town, on a weeknight, and it was pouring rain. I figured either the truck would have closed up or there would be no line, so I gave it a shot. I turned the corner of 1st Ave to see a line snaking dow...

Artizen at The Camby

We had a chance to try out the newish Artizen restaurant at the Camby hotel (former Ritz on Camelback) and I was pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this place and look forward to going back. The chef is Dushyant Singh, once a sous at Kai and now heading Artizen after a side trip to Chicago. We...
