Daiso

My kids and I stopped by the new Daiso store in the Mesa Asian District during its grand opening today. Daiso is sort of like Five Below but with a Japanese pedigree. There has been a location in Chandler for a while, but the Mesa one is brand new, and this was my first visit to one. Like a dollar store, it sells some of just about everything. Two sections of relevance to this board are the Japanese snacks and convenience foods located near the front and the kitchenwares towards the back. There's little here that can't be found at H Mart next door or at the Neko Mart in Tempe, but it was still fun to see the inventory here.

If you lose your rice cooker's paddle and you like cats, you can buy a replacment (paddle, not cat)

Awesome! I just read that there will be a 3rd one opening around 59th Ave and Northern, in Glendale -- which makes it kinda-sorta reasonably driveable for me.

I'm on the hunt for these after a friend in Vegas told me about them...

There was a small case of ice cream bars up front (not the same brand pictured), but I didn't see a larger frozen section. I will double check during my trip to Spice Spirit on Friday.

Have you checked H Mart in Mesa? They might have these.

I just visited again. Aside from a small case of Fruitfull bars, there is no frozen food section.
