Re: Sedona Recommendations?
Howdy, wcleveland, and welcome! I know your post has been hanging out here for a couple of days without reply, so I wanted to see if I can help nudge things along for you a little bit :-) PHXfn has been dormant for quite a while, so there's no reason you should have known. But a board like this, in ...

Re: Testal Mexican Kitchen
Seconded! Testal, interestingly, was a JBF long-lister this year, which kind of surprised me. But it's a great spot. testal-burros.jpg From left to right: Deshebrada, Colorado, Relleno, Picadillo. I particularly enjoyed the relleno. They just chucked a whole queso-stuffed chile relleno right into a ...

Re: Devour Phoenix - Thoughts?
I still look back fondly on being blown away not only by the usual suspects, but also by teams from various resort restaurants, which definitely would not have been on my radar otherwise. This is always an interesting phenomenon to me. One thing is that resorts have a lot of resources (money, peopl...

Kiss Pollos Estilo Sinaloa - Simple Chicken Tacos
Well, this place is adorable :-) Kiss Pollos Estilo Sinaloa has been on my to-do list for... geez, eight years? Longer? And I finally got around to stopping by. It's just a few blocks south of Downtown Phoenix, but you could drive around inside the loop for the rest of your natural life and never ha...

Re: Icho Izakaya in Mesa
I'm going to have to give this another try at some point, Cohkin. Sounds like Nikki Buchanan had an experience similar to yours. She just gave Icho a rather glowing review in the latest issue of Phx Mag. When I went about a month ago, I got ovoid lumps of rice compressed to the density of a neutron ...

Re: The Michelin Guide and pay-to-play
What the hell *is* the Michelin Guide's revenue stream, anyway? Considering the Guide is a way for Michelin to sell more tires... I mean, once upon a time, yeah, but that *can't* be the way it works now, can it? (Can it?) Just marketing for tires? It doesn't stand on its own two feet these days?

Re: Devour Phoenix - Thoughts?
Of the upscale festivals, Devour is the only one worth doing, IMO. There was a time when Azcentral's was pretty good too, but the latter completely faceplanted post-pandemic. Devour pre-pandemic was an awful lot of fun. Expensive, but worth it, I think. Particularly if you're a boozehound. Last year...

Re: In search for the best soft serve in Phoenix
And how I could I forget all the Dole Whip vendors at the state fair? I just enjoyed some with Tajin, chamoy, and a tamarind straw. Unfortunately, tonight’s the last night, but there’s always next year. IMG_0625.jpeg I'll have to remember this for next year. Now this looks like a reason for me to h...

Here's his IG page:

Not sure what's up with the name change, but that's Gregory Wiener. He was at Top of the Rock for a while, and then took over Buck & Rider before he left for the East Coast. Can't remember where he was before TotR.

Re: The Larder + Delta [DTPHX]
This is a brutal closure, but it’s also not surprising. That was always a weird, tricky space. And when I heard complaints about TL+TD, they were never about the food. It sounds like the last year, especially, was really rough on Jones. He’s such a talent, my hope is that he partners up with somebod...
